We recently hosted a seminar focused on the topic of bilingualism, specifically designed to support parents on the often challenging yet rewarding journey of raising bilingual children. The event aimed to provide both knowledge and practical guidance to help families navigate the complexities of fostering multiple languages at home.
During the seminar, we explored the concept of bilingualism in depth — what it is, how it develops, and why it’s such a valuable asset in today’s globalized world. We shared up-to-date global statistics and research findings to give attendees a clearer picture of how widespread and beneficial bilingualism is, both cognitively and culturally.
A significant portion of the seminar was dedicated to offering concrete strategies for parents. We addressed common concerns and questions, and provided useful tips for creating a language-rich environment at home. One key topic we covered in detail was code-switching — the natural practice of alternating between languages — which is often misunderstood. We explained why it happens, what it means for language development, and how parents can respond supportively.
Overall, the seminar served as a space for parents to feel informed, encouraged, and empowered in their role as guides and facilitators of bilingualism in their children’s lives.
